Crash Bandicoot is a platform video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The first game in the series, simply titled ""Crash Bandicoot"", was released in 1996 for the PlayStation.

The series' protagonist is Crash Bandicoot, an orange marsupial with an evil genius, who must save his girlfriend Tawna and defeat the evil Dr. Neo Cortex, along with his evil sidekicks.

The series was a great success and was followed by several other games, including ""Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back"" in 1997 and ""Crash Bandicoot: Warped"" in 1998, both also for the PlayStation. There have been several other games in the series since then, including karting and party games, as well as a remake and sequel on PlayStation 4.

In addition to games, the franchise has also had a cartoon series, comic books, toys and other merchandising. Crash Bandicoot has become one of the most iconic characters in video game history, and his popularity hasn't waned over the years.
