After the Normandy landings in June 1944, the Allies planned the invasion of German territory in order to end the war as quickly as possible. In September 1944, Operation "Market Garden", designed by Bernard Montgomery, aimed to bypass German defenses through the use of British, American and Polish airborne troops. The paratroopers were to take control of bridges in the Netherlands, between Eindhoven and Arnhem, in order to secure the access routes for the Allied forces in Germany. However, strong German resistance and the Allies' failure to cross the Rhine compromised the operation, which proved to be a failure. The war dragged on, requiring several months of additional fighting before the Allies entered Germany. During Operation Market Garden, Hartenstein was the nerve center of activities and was used as the headquarters of the British 1st Airborne Division. This set allows you to create a diorama representative of the battles during Operation Market Garden. It includes the laser-cut wooden Hartenstein Hotel, battlefield accessories, a Willys Jeep, a Stug III, German infantryman and British paratrooper figures. Base not included.
