Product description : AK INTERACTIVE: 1/35; IDF Power Wagon WM300 with winch
Since the earliest days of the Israeli military, the World War II Dodge WC series has been widely used, with surplus trucks obtained from many places to fight in the wars of 1948 and 1956. By the 1960s, these old warriors began to wear out and even more trucks were needed in this category, so the replacement was yet another Dodge product, the Power Wagon. Some civilian closed-cab Power Wagon WM300s had been in use for some time, mainly captured in Egypt, but the Power Wagon now supplied was the soft-top type WM300. It was a cheap, simple, export-type model, similar to the M601 offered to friendly countries under the Military Defense Assistance Program. Beginning in 1966, the trucks arrived in Israel as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units, to be assembled and completed with Israeli-made parts at the new AIL (Automotive Industries Ltd.) factory in Nazareth. The very first cargo body design closely followed the older WC51 model from World War II, but was quickly replaced by a new, much more practical, cheaper and easier to build Israeli model, which was also to be used in its successor, the Nun Nun M325.The first combat use of the Israeli army's new Power Wagon (or Command Car as it was nicknamed) took place during the 1967 Six-Day War, but it was during the Yom Kippur War of 1973 that he became widely known. There were also some foreign users such as Uganda, Kenya and the South Lebanon Army. These sturdy and reliable trucks became very popular among the troops for a myriad of uses, although it was a most spartan and uncomfortable vehicle to drive.
Our new model represents the truck variant standard cargo box equipped with a winch.
