Product description : Marder I
Military Model Marder I
Although the Blitzkrieg at the start of WWII was undeniably a success for the German forces, they were still insufficiently equipped and under-mechanized.
This is why they recovered and used foreign armored vehicles; this was the case for a large number of French equipment captured after the lightning war and the country's defeat in 1940.
Encouraged by the performance of self-propelled anti-tank guns, Germany decided to transform French vehicles into tank destroyers , and one of the first concerned was the caterpillar supply Lorraine of which approximately 300 had been captured.
From May 1942, 170 Lorraine were converted into Marder I by installing a PaK40 anti-tank gun of 75mm protected by a casemate in light armor.
They served on the Eastern Front, in North Africa and in Normandy against the allies.
• Kit to assemble scale 1/35.
• Kit design based on a machine preserved at the Musée des Blindés in Saumur.
• Faithful reproduction of the compact chassis and the overhanging upper hull with rivets and weld lines.
• Meticulously detailed interior of the casemate with barrel breech, sights , shell racks,
radio equipment…
• Undercarriage bogies easy to assemble without sacrificing fidelity and realism.
• Injected plastic tracks (independent sections and pads).
< br/>
• Two gunner miniatures scanning the sky (watching for the appearance of Allied fighters in Normandy) included.
• Three marking options (two in Normandy and one on the Eastern Front).
Scale : 1:35
The 1:35 scale is mainly used for military model tanks, guns and trucks and the corresponding figures.
The 1:35 scale model will be 35 times smaller than the actual tank.
For example, if the vehicle is 5 m long, the model will measure 6 inches / 14.2 cm long (500/35 = 14.2).
figures in the 1:35 scale are about 2 inches / 5 cm high.
