In May 1947 the U.S.
War Department issued a requirement to the industries for a new jet-powered supersonic bomber that would be ready for service by the late 1950s.
A number of contractors submitted bids.
The USAF chose Convair XB-58 and Boeing XB-59 to proceed with a Phase-I study.
The basic XB-59 was to be powered by four turbojet engines.

Scale : 1:144
The 1:144 scale is mainly used for large aircraft models (airliners, bombers, etc.).
A plane in the 1:144 scale is 144 times smaller than the actual aircraft.
For example, if the plane is 60 m long, then the model will measure 1 foot and 5 inches / 41.66 cm in length (6000/144 = 41.66).
