In early 1943 as the war situation worsened Nakajima had to develop a very long-range Fugaku bomber which could be able to mount bombing raids against targets along America′s western seaboard.
The Fugaku project impressed the Japanese Army and Navy.

The 1:144 scale is mainly used for large aircraft models (airliners, bombers, etc.).
A plane in the 1:144 scale is 144 times smaller than the actual aircraft.
For example, if the plane is 60 m long, then the model will measure 1 foot and 5 inches / 41.66 cm in length (6000/144 = 41.66).
